What True Biblical Fellowship is and Why It is Vital We Live It, In These Last Days

We are living in days of mass heresy and apostasy. This apostasy with much false teaching, seems to be everywhere with many Christians and church goers caught up in it. They are even ditching the Bible as the  guide and absolute authority in their lives and churches.  Therefore, they are unable to recognise or confront error, when it appears.

These things have even sprung up within (previously considered) sound churches or denominations. Therefore,  it is becoming increasingly difficult to find churches who are still firmly committed in preaching the undiluted Word Of God and living the scriptures. Because these things are so, true biblical fellowship with others (who share the same passion) is extremely difficult to find.

These churches seem far and few between.  However, for the sake of this article let us assume that the church you attend is sound in scriptural teaching and is practicing what scriptures teach. This article is for such a church.

The Body Of Christ And It’s Priorities
“That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured , all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ and members individually”  1 Cor 12:  25-27.

I have to say that of my 30 years as a Christian I have NEVER discovered a church so interwoven or intertwined with each other, that they are capable of practicing such things.

How To Handle False Teaching And Strange, Different Teachings

Old article Posted in Feb 2010 has now been replaced by this new and improved one 24 Sep 2010

Edited 1st Sep 2011 (see last section in bold, for the edited part).

We are living in days of mass deception – especially from within “so called” Christian circles. The Bible instructs us to watch out for false prophets, to be discerning and also ensure that false teaching does not spread like leaven. So how do we determine whether a teaching is heresy, major error, or just simply a minor difference in interpretation? Also, how should we behave, respond when we read or hear what seems like “strange” teachings?

The purpose of this article is to encourage us all to seek the Lord and in so doing we will be better equipped to handle these things and not be drawn to false teaching or teachers who tickle our ears by the things they say, with all sorts of unsound ideas.

Let's first, gets things in the right perspective, though. So let us

Connecting True Biblical Christians Together In Fellowship

Addition 2nd April 2011 (just this first paragraph)
Please click on this shortcut link  Last Days Bible Inspired Christian Fellowship. New Venture Launched   It is an article pointing to a new venture commenced 1st April 2011 hoping to create strong fellowships internationally, capable of facing the persecutions and deceptions of these last days.

Older Article:
New venture
Christian fellowships which preach unaldulterated Biblical teaching (without mixed in leaven) and do not entertain false unity via the compromising ecumenical movement, is hard to find in these days. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find/have REAL Christian fellowship, anymore. It seems that something needs to be done (differently) in order for true believers to fellowship together.

Please see the following article which discusses what real fellowship is and also contains fellowship related comments:
What True Biblical Fellowship is and Why It is Vital We Live It, In These Last Days

The aim here is to connect struggling believers together in much needed biblical fellowship within their own locations, so that we can build each other up during these last apostate days before Jesus returns. Please feel free to connect with each others within these links.

Let's see how this develops. Hopefully I will become inundated with replies. However, it may or may not become out of control. We will have to see, but I am willing to test it out.

Can we Really Love Each Other In The Way Jesus Commanded?

Jesus commanded us to Love One Another!

“A new commandment I  give to you, that you love one
another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another”.  John 13:34

Jesus said that without Him we can do nothing and that we need to abide in Him.

We know that whatever we do, if we do it in our own strength we will fail.  However, Paul says that “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” Phil 4:13. The New testament letters are full of verses which talk about the strength/power we have  through the Holy Spirit within us.

Regarding practicing love, the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace etc.  If we have the Holy Spirit we have the whole package, so have the potential to be like Jesus and love in the way He did.

Paul says in Rom 12 to present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God.  Jesus said “if you love me you will obey my commandments”. He commanded that we  should love one another.  Love is often costly (it is more than just a feeling – it is active). Jesus said, no greater love has any man than that he should lay down his life for his friend (ie die).  There is far more to love than that  listed in The Love Chapter (1 Corinth 13 ). John talks about active love in his 1st letter. I Cor 13 is in the context of  “being church” and how to practice the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

In other words we should love one another in action and in expression, ie whenever you physically show love by an action “feeding the poor” it should be done by the fruit of love inspired by the Holy Spirit, In other words the act of love gains nothing unless kindness, patience etc is shown also.

The scriptural principle is that born-again believers have full potential (through the Holy Spirit) to show God’s love  in action and expression but we need to step out and do it.  If  you say, that we cannot manufacture that quality of  love with our own ability, you are right, but if we step out and obey Jesus command to love (however difficult it may be) He will enable us. So we step out in our own strength (initially)  by being obedient and then the Holy Spirit enables us to do it. If we  do not do anything until we “feel” empowered  by God to be active in love (after having already been filled by the Holy Spirit) then it may never happen.

Jesus does not command  us to do something which He cannot fulfil in us. If Jesus has commanded us to love each other then we CAN do it, but in HIS strength, which He has already given us. The death and resurrection of Jesus was ALL sufficient for our salvation from sin, cleansing and renewing of our souls and receiving new life through the Holy Spirit.

If we have: thrown ourselves upon God in repentance confessing that we are helpless sinners who cannot save ourselves. Then trusted, believed on and accepted Jesus for our once and for all time, permanent salvation from sin, being born-again by His holy Spirit,  we now have everything we need to fulfil Jesus command to love each other. We just need to step out and do it.

Can WE Love Each Other In The Way Jesus Commanded: Yes HE can through us!

The Importance Of Combining Discernment With Love

What We Can Learn From The Ultimate Failure Of  The Ephesian Church

We are living in the days Jesus prophesied where if possible even the elect may be deceived. False teaching and false prophesies can be found everywhere. We cannot stop it but we can try to prevent  false doctrine from our pulpits and house group leaders by being watchful. It is true that the most important work Jesus wants us to do is preach the good news and win people for Christ, but are we producing strong or superficial Christians by the message we preach and what happens to them when they enter our churches? Although it is imperative that our churches guard against unscriptural teaching and practices and worldly religions and ideas corrupting our churches, this needs to be combined with our practicing the love of God.

Please read these two scriptures together: Acts 20:17-36 and Rev 2:2-6. See Paul's discourse with the Ephesian elders in Acts 20:17-36 and in particular verses:28-31 and then what Jesus said about the church at Ephesus.

Paul said that wolves (false teachers) will come in seeking to divide the church. He also talks about showing acts of love. It seems (by the verses in Revelation) that they had indeed watched out for false teaching but in doing so had forgotten about combining the watch with love.
